Hi Captain Lynn,
I am very interesting in your set up. I have a 2020 NC 895 bought in 2019. When my batteries die, I plan to upgrade my system and I would love to put the inverter in for the AC, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Take care,
Skipper Tim

Hi skipper Tim
I can share the updated wiring diagrams and get some fresh pics of the various installed components. How about we use email so I don’t have to hassle with compressing photos? Send me a private post and we can go from there.

Yes anything you can share would be great. I live in California so plenty of sun is not my issue
my 2023 NC885 has the following setup
1. Electric stove 2. Factory AC and shore power 3. No generator (of course) 4. I have a Honda 2200 when I need AC while not moving at anchor with no shore power 5. I installed a micro air easy start to reduce load on system
i am thinking about two options
The first is a dedicated starter battery for each engine (using existing) and then add 2 dedicated 240 amp-hours 120 per) AGM batteries joined for house/accessories.
Second option is doing lithium batteries (size TBD, but it would be great to run ac on a limited basis if possible) where the genset would go normally since there is a lot of room. I am thinking again to have a dedicated battery for each engine and for the house battery use lithium batteries in series and attach them directly to solar.
I have measured the roof and think I can get two new semi flexible panels at 300-600 watts (crazy how much better they are now) since the old max of 175 watts just a year ago and then up mount them on the roof like Rudder did with their boat. See link
any recommendations you have as I begin this journey.
on recommendations on panels and converter/inverter, controller like the Renogy controller and Solar panel or something bigger for lithium. I am torn on how big to go.
thanks Ed

Can you please send me your specific setup. my 2023 NC895 is ready to be upgraded.
My current setup is
Electric stove shore Powered AC / Heat only hot water shore power only unless I preheat. I think have not tried hot water yet over night with my Honda 2200 gen but assume that is the case I have a Honda 2200 generator to use in overnight or when I need power by attaching to shore power
I would like to add two new batteries either two AGM 120 amp batteries or even larger lithium batteries with solar and an inverter/converter for my house batteries. Then I will dedicate my primary batteries to be used only for each engine. Ideal location is either under the rear storage area where the genset would go or on the other side of the current batteries.
Any thoughts on new solar panels I have seen them as high as 300-400 watts but that seems hard to believe since only. Year ago they were 175. Then thoughts on converters /inverters, controllers would be much appreciated. Sorry if this is a duplicate post.
Thanks Ed
