I have a 2015 409 and just bought the boat off the hard a couple of months back but the bow thruster works but has little power. It has a 12v motor and two deep cycle batteries. I am going to run a load test on them this weekend as the volts came in a 13.4v for both batteries.
Any thoughts? Kevin

My 2015 409 had the monitoring circuit wired only to measure the voltage of the batteries when the engine is running thus 13.5 + of the charging alternator. One needs to check that the lead is connected directly to the batteries. Then it reads 13+_ V. I did mistakenly replace the original flood cell grp 24s with AGM grp 27s this spring. So I now have 200 Ahrs CCA 845 A. i have never found that the thruster has had poor performance.

Hi Servdiv, What do you mean "little power" ? Does it works ok but produces small pushing power or does it works slowly as if it gets less voltage than it needs ? If you can specify how powerful in hp/watts is the motor things may get clearer. Captbillh may have a more h.p motor that pushes with more power and still both of your b.t may be in good shape. Alex

Had same issue few weeks back. Changed battery saved the day. Old AGM battery showed correct voltage but just couldn’t bear with the load any more (for more than couple of seconds).

My bow thruster also lost power a few years back and was sorted by new batteries.

Thanks for the input, I ended up pulling the old batteries and load tested them, both were showed bad, I charged them over night and both still showed bad, replaced them with group 24 AGM dual purpose batteries, wow the thruster works great. I also set my 60 amp charger to AGM setting as the rest of my house and starter batteries are AGMs...this is how I got the boat...putting in a Belmar battery monitor to ensure the SOH is correct for all too, I bought it off being on the hard for a year...
