Hi all,
Have been sleeping on our 32i throughout the summer months, and now the colder nights are coming condensation is becoming a problem, even with the hatch left open its still dripping on the wife! As winter comes and we get even colder nights the problem will become worse. (and the prospect of open hatches in December and January will go down like a lead balloon!)
Can anybody recommend a dehumidifier?
I am assuming I need a desiccant model as opposed to refrigerant as it needs to operate in cold ambient air in UK winter.
Would appreciate suggestions .
David

+ 1 for the Meaco - we have one for our 44i and it kept our boat really dry over the winter, it also puts just a little bit of heat into the boat

I used a compressorized unit on my boat all last winter and it worked beautifully, even in colder weather. I don't know what brands you get in the uk, but I don't think it matters very much as long as you get the features and capacity you want.
I bought a larger one because it came with a built in condensate pump, so all I had to do is run a vinyl tube into the sink drain. If you don't get one with a pump you will only have the option of gravity drain, which means a wet bilge, or emptying the reservoir all the time, which is a pain.

We use the Meaco as well. Have one on the boat and one at home.

I purchased a Pro Breeze dehumidifier for my RV. I bought this dehumidifier because of the size and price. I've had it for about two weeks and am happy with it so far. The fan is relatively quiet; it sounds almost like a fan on the low setting. If any of you are thinking of building your own meat curing chamber I would certainly give this a try.

Thanks everybody, just placed my order for the Meaco. Your advice and recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks David You’ll be pleased with the Meaco. We have one which kept us dry (and warm) over five UK winters living on board. We had it running at one end of the boat whilst we slept at the other so the (not very loud) noise wasn’t an issue. It also provided a nice night light (but I’m not sure that the model above has that?). The other great thing about it was the ‘laundry mode’ which dries clothes in the shower area very quickly when required (which was often on the West Coast of Scotland!!!). Good luck.

It's always nice to read the recommendations, you never know how you can find the best option for yourself. It will instantly tell you whether you need to use a dehumidifier or, if your air is too dry, a humidifier! A dehumidifier is normally required if the humidity level exceeds 60%. Allowing Rh to fall below 40% might cause the air to become excessively dry, worsening respiratory difficulties. This list of top 7 best on dehumidifiercritic.com may be useful if you don't know what dehumidifier to choose.
