Hi You must first remove the surround which is held in place by two screws on each side inside the cupboards . The microwave is fix the plywood base . To remove the microwave and base together you have to remove the screws inside the cupboards That hold the base. Open the door and lift up and out wards

It is important to measure the dimensions - my microwave broke and I haven't found a replacement that will fit.

Hello robertf,
Replacing the microwave seems like a very simple task but somehow I managed to take that once in a decade opportunity and ruined the outcome by overthinking it. I found a microwave that was called an inverter Microwave. I thought, great, I can set the power to low and then instead of hammering my batteries too hard I can wind back the power and take it easy.
Great in theory. In practice its hard to set the power on the microwave. I'm more of a "press here for one minute" man so we just use the thing at full whack. it draws about 180 amps from the poor old hosue batteries so my attempt to be gentle on them failed. Also, the door on this microwave is the full width of the device. Looked great in the shop and I thought it was a great design. In practice however, the bigger door opens over more of the gas burners so once again, I snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
I couldn't have chosen a worse mnicrowave oven for a boat. I paid too much for a great device that simply doesn't suit my needs. My advice is choose one of those really simple, very inexpensive ones. And yes, removing and installing it was not particulary easy.
