Hi I have a Raymarine a75 chartplotter that came with the boat. It had an initial 1 year subscription for the Navionics charts that has expired. I paid for a renewal using the Navionics app on my iphone then tried to update the chartplotter from the iphone using the wifi connection between the two, but that didn't work. Would appreciate any help on this. The navionics.com website does not have any support contact info.

I updated my Raymarine plotter navionics (now at Garmin site) using the micro as card and my home computer. Worked well the two times I updated.

Its a while since I did an update, so this comment may be outdated, but I remember that I had to put the Navionics SD card with the original map into my computer for the update to work. As things do not change very fast on the water around here I have stopped doing annual updates. When going to a new area I check the current versions of the online charts at the Navionics website for changes.

I had an exchange with Navionics about this a while ago. Subscribing to updates on the app does not get you updates for your plotter. If you have current subscriptions for BOTH then you can update the plotter charts (at least on the e series you can) from the app via WiFi. So you have to pay twice - no I'm not very happy about it either...

Yeppers - MikeBz is correct.
Two different subscriptions. I did have both, then found out. Now have none.
Must work out what to do in the future.

I concluded that the Navionics app on my iPad was nice, and especially good for route planning, but my Raymarine e7 MFD is by far superior for navigation. So I haven’t updated the iPad app lately. Luckily, I bought it before they switched to a subscription model. The app I have still works, but I can’t get updates any more.
I agree with sitara that things don’t change often in my sailing area, and things that do change aren’t often included in updated Navionics charts. So I only update my charts every 4 years or so.
By the way, you can get updates for the software in Raymarine MFDs. Over the years since I got mine (in 2012) they have added a lot of nice features like lay line tracking and AIS target visual warnings. Unfortunately, they have stopped creating updates for my unit, so new features are no longer available. However, you can still install the last update if you have one of the older models. The update procedure involves downloading a file on a computer, unzipping files onto a micro sd card, and powering up the plotter with the chip in it.

Does anyone have any experience withthe Raymarine Chartplotters compatibility between the eS series and the Axiom? The eS pinch to zoom quit working and supposedly cannot be repaired and I am being told that I need to buy a new Axiom. Question is, will the new Axiom be compatible with all my other electronics, secondary chartplotter below, auto pilot, radar, AIS etc? I know there are return issues with electronics if they are removed from original packaging so I dont want to have issues with this upgrade if it needs done.

We upgraded to Axiom. The radar also needs to be upgraded, but the rest of the system should work OK. It will require some conversion items such as: Raymarine Seatalk Converter Raymarine SeaTalk NG Backbone Cable, 20m RAYMARINE SeaTalk NG 5 Way Connector SeaTalk NG Spur Cable, 400mm RAYMARINE SeaTalk NG Backbone Terminator
Not a cheap conversion

I believe both the Es an Axiom series communicate with the Seatalk ng (NNEA 2000 protocol with Raymarine connections) so this should be no problem.

Hi Crankin I asked exactly these questions of Raymarine support. Axion 9 running alongside existing eS95. All the equipment on the boat is 1-7 years old. The feedback I got was - as long as you already have NMEA2000 somewhere (see comments above about adding converters) - the Axion can be added to the network and will have access to all the instrument data currently available - Except -SiriusXM Weather - if you have SR150 - you will need to replace with SR200 for weather to be available on the Axiom Data sharing -Radar - will only connect to one of the chart plotters not both - so you cannot have radar on both - charts - the chartplotters will not share chart data FYI - I found Raymarine support more effective/responsive via email than phone - with phone you have to select a specific product line - and compatibility is about multiple products) Here is the full text of the questions i asked and the responses so you see the context: ---------------- I currently have an e95 (or es95?) Hibrid MFD and looking to upgrade to Axiom 9 as an interim step to a full upgrade to Axiom 12 pro. A number of questions 1. Does this make sense? Can I just swap one out for the other? Mostly yes. Only the sr150 is not compatible with the axiom and if the installation is a surface-mounted type the hole left behind the e95 is bigger than the axiom 9 2. Is the Axiom 9 a like for like cable install for the e95 - or are there new cables I will need to run to the helm? (what do I need to run) It changes a little bit on the power side but most of the connections are the same Except for the NMEA 2000 included on the axiom that you can adapt with help of the cables included with the axiom 3. Will the e95 and Axiom 9 work together on the network - i.e. both connected? Yes but not sharing charts or radar sharing
