Genoa is a big port with multiple options for the small boat sailor. We called Marina Porto Antico and told them we wanted to stay 5 days for made a reservation. It is easy getting in but you must be very cautions as a lot of big ships are coming and going and tugs are working the big ships. When we arrived they met us with a dink and lead us to out slip. It is a very secure marina with key fobs for entrance to the marina itself and an policeman in the evenings. The showers are a short walk away and good. We met another boat there that we talked to on the way north and they said they initially went to another marina in Genoa port and it was backed up to a major walkway and a lot of people walk the dock all day. they said a couple of homeless lived near the dock and to get to the showers they had to go past the homeless and 3 locked doors to get to it. After a couple of days they moved. It was quick walk to downtown and the train station. we traveled to Turin twice and Milan. We had planned to spend only five days but got a bit of a deal for 7 days so it worked perfectly. there is a grocery near the dock along with a couple of places to eat nearby. But a quick walk and you are in the old city that is very vibrant and fun.

Malcolm HI Malcolm -- yep we are headed west -- currently in Toulon - have a few write ups to do on some ports along the way - we just hit 60 days in the EU and plan an inland trip today for a while then a quick visit to a couple of French ports before headed to North Spain and then need to get out of the EU to save a few days is we go to the Canary Isl if we cross this year.
On the inland trip plan to make the Jeanneau factory - understand it will not be working but hey it is better than not seeing at all.

Hi Chuck & Phatty, Greetings from the holly land. Still in one piece ? Alex Alex - still in one piece -- had to pick up a spare starter the other day when we had on fail and it would have been a disaster if we were at anchor but fortunately at a marina so we could get one. It is an interesting area across the top of the Med - very different - a lot of flash and glitter or quiet dignity and class -- really an interesting area. got some sailing in at times but as usual the Med winds are either to much or too little.
Met a few professional crews along the way and what great advise they have on where to take SoulMates and where to go by rail - ie some of the "great places" are not that great and just a showy place.
Toulon is the first place we have seen people using their sailboats. Coming in there were sailboats out and about everywhere - winds were only 6-8 at best and they were out catching some wind.
Oh and we have been watching the temps in the Holy Land and I think it may at times be hotter here.
