Sadly after some 25 plus years the screw holes in the base of the forward head have given up gripping. The base is plastic and fixed down by bolts. The pump then screws onto the base and it is this fixing that is the issue. The underside of the heads ‘platform’ is not accessible as far as we are aware so replacing the base seems problematic. Anyone else solved this problem?
The skipper is reluctant to undo the bolts that hold the base down as without knowing whether/how the nuts underneath are fixed as we could be making the problem worse. It appears the base might have been bolted to the GRP shell that forms the whole unit before it was fitted into the boat at build time but that may be a wrong assumption.
He has tried filling the screw holes with epoxy but it wouldn’t bond to the plastic base.

Jabsco installations just use a bolt and nut and it is unlikely that the nut is captured on the underside of the base. I just looked at the 3 heads on board my boat and none of them allow access under the base. What might be the easiest solution is to remove the base (and hear those nuts drop down), then use a jig saw to make a hole between those bolts that is big enough to get a hand in and glue the new nuts into place. Hopefully a magnetic grip tool can be used to fish out the nuts that fell.

Susie SY Temptress Borneo Since at least 2000 on most Jeanneau's the head is screw bolted through the grp onto a thick piece of wood/ply, so no backing nuts. So it is quite possible yours is also just fitted with coach bolt /lag screws - see this thread too jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/7120/ds43-head-replacement

Hi, I read the post three times and wasn’t sure which base you are talking about. Sounds like you have a Jabsco Quiet Flush. If the screws that are loose are the ones that connect the porcelain bowl to the plastic base, these four screws have a nut on the underside that fit into a slot. If the nut gets too loose, the nut will drop out of the slot and won’t tighten. Easy to fix by pulling the screw up and while keeping some upward tension, tighten the screws. The better option is to pull the toilet and you can access the nuts from the bottom of the plastic base.
If you are talking about the plastic base the sits on the head’s floor, as Malcolm said, there are three lag bolts and no nuts holding the entire toilet in place. You would have to pull the toilet, fill in the holes and then drill new bolt holes. I haven’t done this on the head, but I have filled in other screw holes by using a thick filler.
