We own a 2019 Sun Odyssey 440 and having trouble getting pricing for cockpit enclosure from our dealer. Any suggestions? Our dodger and bimini are factory from Jeanneau made by TTops.

Check you inquiry on FB or look at link done locally on the west coast. Don't worry about getting a quote from Jeanneau.

Hi Gilligansislandgirl, a warm welcome to the forum. Good to have you on board.
In this country, much of the canvas work and associated framing is supplied by small independent contractors. I think from many posts on this forum that this is not unusual. They generally make to fit on the boat rather than have ready made components. Have a look at other boats local to your area and see who is happy with their supplier and talk to the supplier direct. That way you get to choose from those who do good work and make an attractive product. And you can talk about any features that are important to you.

Most of the locally produced enclosures seem to be a much better product than. The Jeanneau ones I have seen on new boats.

We are based on Long Island, New York. Our local canvas guy seems to be too busy because its beginning of the season here. We are traveling to Newport, perhaps we can find someone up there

Congratulations on your new 440. My 44ds is in SE Wisconsin and I appreciate your frustration with busy canvas shops. Of course a good canvas shop should be overloaded this time of boat season. We had our dodger/bimini done late winter and the enclosure was completed later in the year well after our shops busy season. For your budget purposes the enclosure on the 44 was $4,000 about 2 years ago. The enclosure is 9 panels of screen and inner plastic/isinglass. While I am not a complete fan of enclosures it is great extending cockpit use in the spring and fall during chilly or rainy weather.

We also are please with the SO 440 performance. Would love to see photos of your canvas enclosure. We are planning our first ocean passage this fall. Have you have experience with ocean passage with her. Would love to know how she handles in through heavy seas.
