We have a 2004 49 DS, does anyone know how the ceiling is held up in saloon area. most likely will be velcro. Would like to know before I start pulling at it.
regards Wayne

Not 49DS specific, but many Jeanneaus of this era have the most outer panels, IE nearest the windows fixed with a few screws. The plywood panels are the tabbed to interlock with ones nearer to the Centreline, so these do not have any visible fixings. So always start at the outermost panel and work across to the Centreline, removing the "hidden" screws as you find them.

We have a 2006 DS49. Our panels were all held up with velcro. Several panels sagged, so we installed screws and covered the screws with caps.

My 2009 SO44i has(d) the tabbed panels but instead of screws, they are/were "held up" by overgrown press-studs. I put "held up" in inverted commas because they have always fallen down and ended up with screws in. As they are now 10 years old and are just marine ply covered in vinyl, we're replacing them with tongue & groove, stained white and satin varnished then screwed up. Doing the forecabin at the moment, saloon will come later in the year I expect

Problem solved. Not sure if I have original ceiling after reading the above comments. our yacht has Velcro, tabbed panels and screws. There is are 2 starting panels one center port just fwd of companion way. this was velcro along the center line of yacht. move to the port side of the panel it was Tabbed under the next port side panel. The Tabs that interlocked with the next panel were screwed. this panel is the long one that holds 3 lights. Before we removed this panel we needed to remove the center port side panel just fwd of the hatch. This panel is the 2nd starting panel. Once you have removed it, all the screws and tab are exposed to the long panel that run down the length of the saloon. Once this long panel is removed there are move tabs screws and velcro on the panel above the Nav Station. This panel is wedged in hard between the wooden surround for the side window and the fiberglass ceiling ( not to hard to pull out but very hard to get back in). If anyone is interest the object of this task was to get to the main sheet traveller track bolts, which need to be removed from the bottom so the end turning bock assemby can be removed, to get to the main sheet Car. The car needs to come off the track to load new Torlon balls, which is the easiest part of the whole task.
