Hiii!! I have proudly joined the club as a Jeanneau owner and purchased my very first sailboat. I would like to know more about it. Weaknesses, strenghts or any other pro tip you can think of. I can't find much information online, so I decided to make a post here and hopefully get some insight

Welcome to the forum eublem. You will find lots of information and help here. Older Jeanneaus have a reputation for being well built, even with Kevlar reinforcing in your case.

Hi eublem,
Another warm welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the purchase. You have many happy adventures ahead of you. Your first boat will always be memorable. By the way, where will you be sailing?
For your first boat, I would not worry too much about obscure problems. Start sailing, practice leaving and returning to your mooring or pen, stay onboard overnight and use all the systems, and only worry about the problems you discover as you get to know your boat. At the end of each day, try and take time to sit in the cockpit, relax and look around you, there is so much stuff to take in and enjoy on a new boat. You will get plenty of help here if you need it, but no need at this stage to worry about other people’s problems.
We all have problems with fuel gauge indication, so the only thing I would suggest is that you check the gauge, and for the first few times, fill it up at an indicated half or above, and compare what it takes to your tank capacity. Log how much you put in and engine hours, and you will soon get to know how to interpret the reading. And remember this is not a specific problem to your boat, it is mostly a consequence of the shape of tank that fits well into the allocated space against the hull.
And, get sailing, I am sure you will enjoy it, and that will tell you more about the boat than anything else.

Hi eublem,
Welcome to the forum! This is an exciting time. When first owning the yacht and getting to know it is a wonderful time. You will find many things that will delight you and maybe find some other things that may make you resolve to undertake a bit of maintenance work.
In any case just enjoy the discovery phase as you get to know the boat. If any specific issues concern you this forum gives you access to some expertise across a very wide variety of disciplines.
Good luck
Trevor

Thanks all for wise words and warm welcome! You really made me look at my concerns differently. I am very proud of my boat and can't wait to wash, paint, polish and varnish her.... This is her year to shine

Hi Eublem and congrats on your new boat. I also have a sunshine, purchased 3 years ago. Love this boat and you will too. Like any sailboat there is always a need for repairs but this is not unexpected. If I was to complain about something I would say engine power a little low but hey, I try not to use it anyways.
Biggest maintenance issue i have had is the cockpit sole which i am in the middle of repairing. Balsa core is wet and is being torn out and replaced. Probably due to the teak wood strips bolted into the floor and leaking over the years. You may want to look into this before you have problems and assuming it was not already taken care of.
Happy sailing Costa
