Hi,
I’m looking into a purchase of a used boat and in my survey found significant water surrounding the fuel tank. My guess is it’s coming in the hatch on the back of the transom. Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone placed a drain/lubber into the bilge?
Thanks!

Check whether it is salt water or fresh water, assuming the boat is used in sea water.

Cpnb,
My previous boat was a 695. Loved it but a bit small for extended cruising. It was 100% water tight. My new boat is an 895. There was a lot of water coming into the 895 hull in the aft end of the boat. It was fresh water not salt. We have traced the water to the following areas. Latch housings in the cockpit floor door with water coming in between the metal surfaces and the fiberglass. They weren’t sealed. Aft port access panel door frame water coming in between the frame and the fiberglass seat/step surface. It was sealed but a few spots didn’t have enough sealant and gaps allowed water thru. 2 screws where the fuel lines were attached with a clamp within the cockpit storage area. The screws weren’t sealed and water seeped in. The large flex hose where the engine controls are enclosed was allowing water to come thru between it and the fiberglass structure. And the gap between the cockpit floor door and the raised edge around the door. There was not a door seal installed. In this case rain water wasn’t sleeping in instead when I would wash off the cockpit area the high pressure of the hose could force water around the floor door into the interior. For this last item Sundance yachts added a flexible rubber door seal all around the large door opening. For all the other leaks (from rain or washdown) they removed the items and resealed/reinstalled as required. I need to check again after the rains we just had but I’m expecting we found and fixed them all. This process took patience on my part to look around best I could to try to determine where the water was coming from. And then good warranty support by Sundance to Reseal/fix them

Hi
Sorry to butt in on your conversation but I was wondering when you had your Merry Fisher 695 did it list at all to the Starboard side I’ve bought a used 2017 695 had it in the water for about a month and have just noticed it’s slightly listing to the Starboard side by about 50 mm was wondering if you or anybody else may have had similar problems, i’ve checked inside the boat no water present I also don’t have any major weight on the Starboard side
Would appreciate anybody’s thoughts
Dylan

I was wondering if it was from where the placement of the water tank and waste water tank. It's wasn't dramatic, but balanced best with two riders to port and one to starboard. I appreciate everyone's responses!

Hi
If you have 2 on port side and one on Starboard that dose sort it out, I worked it out to about 60kg extra weight on the port side to equal the water line, it makes no difference to how well the boat performed. I’ve also noticed looking at some photos online of boats for sale the water line is higher on the port side and below the anti foul line on the Starboard side I checked for water around my fuel tank last night and also have a small amount of water there , I had the same on my 2014 645 never caused any problems, will check the access panel now as the previous member mention

Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone placed a drain/lubber into the bilge? Thanks! Hi, I have 2020 , 795 with BRP Evinrude E-Tec 150 HP, I had an alarm from the engine says "water in the fuel filter, I checked water separator and Fuel filter was full of water ended me taking out 100 Litre of Petrol out, wash the petrol tank with another 10 L and put new petrol in. After thatI just clean the filters and the problem was sorted. Here the main problem I think" Jeanneau put 795 Gas Tank Cap on the back just after the door opening to swimming platform and after a heavy rain water went in to the gas tank it was fresh water, perhaps it might be my fault that I do not close the cap properly (I think I did close properly but man makes mistakes) however someone might step on it and turn sideways might loosen the cap as well" therefore I suggest Jeanneau to change the position of that cap in new models to put it a bit up where people won't step on .... Just to keep in mind not to end up with water in fuel tank ... Thanks,

Hi Cascarda, you may want to take a look at this post. Water in fuel AlarmI thought Jeanneau had fixed this issue at the factory by adding a siphon loop in the fuel vent hose, but what you are describing sounds like the same issue. I’d have your dealer check it out just to make sure. Good luck, Ron
