Hi, I have a 2004 sunfast 32i with tiller. Went down to the boat today after a couple week break and the tiller was quite stiff and had limited range (more on one side than the other, but both limited). The boat was bottom painted about 8 weeks ago but have been out twice since then with no issues. Haven't hit anything. No visible damage and have never had this issue before.
Any thoughts?

Presume you do not have an autopilot ram attached to the rudder stock below decks?

Correct, no ram. Also should have made clear that this is a tiler boat, so no steering quadrant. No visible obstructions but feels like something is jammed in there.

Strange one, guess it might still be some rope or line that is jamming. I did see she was tiller steered, but whilst it is not common, a ram can be attached to the rudder stock for below decks autopilots, so thought it worth asking the question. Is the water cold and/or dirty? no chance of a quick plunge over the side to check?

I once used ptfe lube on the nylon rudder bearings on my 39i, this made the bearings swell and jam the rudder. Jeanneau only recommend WD40 for the nylon bearings on my boat. Liberal application of WD 40 over several days flushed out the ptfe and cured the problem. Did you use something other than WD40?

Thanks for the replies! I haven't applied any lube but the boat had a bottom job about 6 weeks ago and I did see that they lubed the bearings from the outside so that is a possibility.
San Francisco bay water is rather cold but I'll put on my wetsuit and see if there is any obstruction because it feels like something is jammed in there. The limited range, more on one side than the other, feels very strange.
Keep the suggestions coming! Jesse
