I have a deposit on a Jeanneau 53. It has a two piece mast spliced between the two spreaders. Is this common and should I have any concerns? Thanks to everyone for your help. I am new to the forum and this is my first post.

Hello Johnrb,
I have a Jeanneau 57 which also has a 2 piece "spliced" mast. This is not unusual with large rigs, and the splice itself is going to be stronger than either mast section. My rig broke during hurricane "Irma" and it snapped off above the splice point...

Hi Johnrb,
Congratulations on the new boat, exciting times ahead as delivery comes closer.
And welcome to the forum. You will find many friendly people here and lots of good information in previous posts. Much of it is timeless, and much of it applies across several models, so an interesting and valuable resource for all owners. And while you are there, how about posting a little introduction to yourself and where you will be sailing.
Looking forward to hearing how commissioning and initial sailing goes, then on to more adventures.
