hello all, i have recently bought a sunshine 38 regatta it has a masthead keel stepped rig and lead keel, on the jeanneau specs this appears unusual, the boat is from 1994 and is tiller steared, does anyone know if this is a standard configuration or is it a special by jeanneau or others.

Welcome to the forum. Jeanneau made Regate versions of several models and they would then have the tall keel stepped mast and deep lead keel. There may not be that many of the Sun Shines, but I don't have detailed data, but lovely looking boats. You might get more information on specifics from the designer www.tonycastro.co.ukEnjoy your boat and this forum - do add some photos too to our gallery www.jeanneau-owners.com/photogallery.html there are quite a few good ones of Sun Shines already there

I believe that my Jeanneau was once used as part of a sailing school so if anyone has any information in respect of this boat I would be very interested to hear. Her current name is Snailblazer.

In 1995 the Sun Shine series had not been made for 6 years. The regatta version was only 1983-1985. I'm wondering if this boat is a 1995, it might be a modified JOD35 which the last year made was 1995. Also seeing a sun fast 36 with a lead keel in the mid 90 time frame... I'm also thinking there was another boat in the 90's that was more of a true racer too. I may be wrong. It might be the Selection, which was a mid 80s racer, IIRC originally for the Tour de France sailboat race, which was also IIRC a boat used in the tour de France.
