Does anyone know a way of accessing the boat's NMEA data over the internet?
I currently have a Yacht Devices YDWG-02 plugged in to the NMEA network, this is connected to the boat's wifi network which is provided by a RedBox. The RedBox gets its internet connection from a Vodafone Mi-Fi dongle which is plugged in to the unit.
Rdubz had the good idea to use an IP camera to keep an eye on the boat and also to use it to have a look at the guages on the boat but i'd prefer a more elegant solution.....i did however get an IP camera to keep an eye for intruders, it records to the cloud as well.

what type of NMEA data you want to see ? eg. when the boat is at the marina do you leave all your gauges working ?

Hi Vasko,
If I can remote in then i'm happy to leave my gauges on while i'm in a marina.
I'd like to be able to see the wind speed and direction and also tank gauges that are fed through the NMEA.
Can I get battery data via NMEA?

Everything onboard is B&G and going through either Simnet or NMEA 2000 as far as I know.
I'm just a bit of a number junkie and like to be able to see what's going on.....even when i'm not there.

if you are not happy with what I have - just get a vodafone V-SIM camera and watch the gauges on the camera video

I've got a camera and an iPad i can put in front of it to show the information, just a fancied something slicker.
Does the Boat Vitals need the marina to be taking part? Or does it run through a normal internet connection?

Latest boat-vitals can work over : wifi, lora, Mobile Data SIM card or BT - any of this will do the job - in your case you already have mifi - no need for anything else boat-vitals will just work Re: enme over wifi :

It seems that Digital Yacht has a unit called iKommunicate that converts all of the NMEA data into their own format called K-Signal. Just waiting to hear back from them to see how I access this remotely but from what i've learned so far it seems possible.
Apparently their K-Signal format makes it a lot easier for people to develop apps to use the information.

That's all the bits and bobs bought for the setup plus a couple of extras to upgrade the current system I have onboard. Will hopefully arrive next week so i'll keep the post updated with installation and findings. The app itunes.apple.com/us/app/wilhelmsk/id1150499484#?platform=iphone looks particularly good for use onboard and when away from the boat. You can also use your current Navionics subscription if you've got one via the app store.

Got my yacht devices 4G connect router, Ikommunicate and the Wi-fi booster today so I’ll be installing these over the next few evenings.

So i've finally gotten round to installing all of the equipment.
I have the 4G Connect router with a 4G sim card that is also connected to a digital yacht WL150 wifi booster. This is set up so if it'll connect to a known wifi network and default to the 4G if the signal goes.
Wired directly into the 4G Connect router is a digital yacht iKommunicate, this converts all the NMEA into signalK and makes it available either via the boat's wifi or over the internet.
I'm using the Wilhelm SK app at the moment which is able to show pretty much everything that is available on the NMEA network.
