I have a deep keel, single rudder SO389 and am wondering whether she will take the ground well against scrubbing posts for antifouling etc. If anyone has done this and has some pictures I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance etc Ed

I have found that the 379 will not balance evenly on the keel bulb when using an in water hoist with a flat lifting floor. It will tip back onto the rudder. We have to tie the bow down and tension it with the windlas. I assume you would face the same issue if you set her down and leaned her on scrubbing posts.

Hi, Did you try drying your 389?, If so was it ok? I want to dry our 379 against piles and would like to hear from someone who has actually done it! Thanks

Hi. I was talking to a guy yesterday who dried out an SO42 against posts and he said that as the bottom of the keel was dead flat there was no problem and she did not tilt down by the bow or stern. Also there was no need to tension a halyard to the shore to lean her over due to the flat keel bottom. (he did have a halyard ashore as a precaution) I know I am talking about a different model of SO but perhaps the above is of some help.
I would love to know if the keel bottom on my SO35 -2005 is flat as well. Anybody know?
Regards.
