I just purchased a Sun Fizz 40 1983. It is in need of a lot of work and does not have any info about the boat. Its a fractional rig and has 3 cabins. Would love to talk with someone who has this boat about how it sails, anything I should be looking for, PHRF Rating? , Construction, Blisters General comments about the boat. Any info would be great. Hope I am doing this correctly. Could not see where to post a new topic??

I've just registered for the forum after having my offer accepted on a beautiful SO43DS in Turkey. We live in Cambridgeshire and used to be based at Shotley Marina, Ipswich with our Westerly Seahawk but left for the Med in 2001. The Westerly is up for sale in Alghero, Sardinia at the moment and we can't wait to get the 43DS in the water!

We are an Australian couple who are looking to buy an SO40 somewhere in the Mediterranean and to spend 4 or 5 years cruising in the area before returning to Australia.
We are in touch with several brokers but would welcome any leads as to where we might find our dream yacht.

You can try going to The Moorings website for charter boats coming out of charter. Also Sailonline.com, the owner of the site also ows Moorings boats and is a broker also.

Hello Malcolm
I took delivery of 49 DS in Port Napoleon last July. I had intermittent bow thruster problems....found loose battery terminals on bow thruster batteries several months later....had to have batteries replaced. You may find the shroud cap ends are "rough" castings. Don't oversheet and wear a hole in the genoa uv strip as we did in the first 4 hours of sailing! Had leather boots fitted at dealers expense. Use one water tank at a time ie isolate ones not in use. If you isolate one tank as a reserve and keep two in use when you switch to the reserve tank it will just suck air. Make sure you run the engine in excess of 1000 revs when raising anchor....it just says to run the engine in the manual...this is not enough. Order a manual override for the windlass....there isn't one with the boat as standard equipment. Otherwise the boat has been magic! Where are you headed?
Cheers

Hello, everybody.
I am a Jeanneau FUN built in 1986 owner. My fellow and me have the boat in Santurtzi, Spain.
We have the "Lezama 1º" since 2004 and we haven´t sailed a lot. The boat is without changes or modifications from the original. The only thing I have completely updated this summer is the electrical installation.
Our sailing level is poor taking in account the boat performances, we know it. And we are increasing our experience and theoretical knowledges.
But, meanwhile, we are handleing with the idea of make the boat weighter (to ballast it) in order to have a more comfortable saling.
Please, don´t kill us. We know that what we are suggesting is more or less asking Michael Schumacher how to do his Ferrari slower. The problem is that we don´t drive like "Kaiser".
Remembering FUN data:
Over all lenght: 7,10 m Beam width: 2,45 m Draft: 0,50 to 1,60 m Displacement: 750 kg Ballast: 340 kg (keel)
Can you help us? we wanted to know:
1.- With how many kilograms increase the total ballast. 2.- What material to use for that. 3.- Where to fix them. How many in the keel, without any risk for its hinge box. How many in boat floor and at what distance from keel hinge.
Thank you for your time. I´m sorry for my English. I would be waiting for your suggestions and help.
Best regards. Alberto. 5.- How many kilograms

Hi everyone, This is a plea for help to solve a mystery. We have a 45.2, and seem to be getting air into the fresh water system. This is preventing pressure building up in the pressure tank, which affects the water flow. We've checked and serviced the pump, which didn't solve the problem. There are no obvious water leaks from the tank to the pump, so we're mystified. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks, Stephen on Giverny2

I have a sun odyssey36i and lift out for the winter. Last week i noticed at the transom i think its where the deck is joined to the hull the sealant ,which should be sikaflex is coming away from the joint.Have any 36i owners encountered this problem. The boat is now 2years old and I dont think it should have failed so soon.Ill be glad to hear from others who had this problem. Nick.

where and how do you get to see the replies to your post. There are several options: From the home page at: jeanneau.proboards.com/There are 2 large blocks, one titled NEWS and second one called INFO CENTRE If you want to what recent posts have been made on ALL subjects scroll down to the INFO CENTRE, look at first line which is "Forum Statistics” then click the link to "View the most recent 30 posts" An Alternative if you want to just see replies from a single Member is to click on the Member name and then “view activity” this will show you their most recent posts Your question about hull/deck seal on the transom would be better placed as totally new thread on “General Jeanneau Topics” to do that you click on the General Jeanneau Topics” title, then on the top right hand side of the table you will see a tab marked “New Thread”, that will create a new topic that you can then easily track the replies to the thread from. Hope this is helpful Malcolm

Hi, We have a 1999 SO 34.2 (IMSHI IV) based in Plymouth. We bought her through 'WestWays' in 2004 and think she is fantastic. Apart from enjoying leisurely cruising (we are now members of the new WestWays Jeanneau Owners Club) we also take part in some of the RWYC races (PY2b Class). Fair winds, Stuart

It seems that this good idea has gone to sleep in terms of information exchange between Jeanneau owners. Pity because I learnt most of what I know today about sailing from 25 years talking with sailing friends. Bruce d in Australia. Skipper - Liaison - Sun Odyssey 36.2
