Hello to all. I'm from Perth Western Australia. Bought a 2005 Sun Odyssey 37 in September last year and have been enjoying a great summer of sailing. We have consistent afternoon sea breezes that are usually around the 18 - 22 knot mark. Found this site after a bit of Googling in relation to a suspected leaking rudder seal (I suspect I have one as I'm getting a little bit of water in the central cavity after use and I've traced the water flow to somewhere in the rear). Regards, Tony Tony you are most welcome, the SO37 is a great boat. Would be worth you starting a new thread to ask about the possible leak you have. We used to live in Roleystone and raced on a half tonner from SPYC. Guess you are enjoying Rotto? Are you based in Freo or Hillary's? Malcolm

C O C O is currently on the accueil pontoon facing the chantier naval and very close to the Capitainerie. We pass the Jeanneau dealership at Les Issambres every time we return from Port Frejus, taking the scenic route past l'Esterel towards Cannes. Probably of no interest to most readers but just a correction to a previous statement, I meant to say the Les Issambres Jeanneau Agent is between Saint Tropez and Frejus not Frejus and Cannes.

All, Very pleased to join this Forum. Currently owner of a Sun 2500, sailing in south of France, and waiting for a brand new SO440 to be delivered in July 2019. Will be happy to share any feedback from those who already have sailed this boat. A grammar question : I english people talk about their boats saying "her" , in French we use "his" any explanation ? Happy new year everyone !
You are most welcome. The Sun 2500 is a practical and versatile boat, but I am sure you will love the 440, I have sailed one briefly, most impressed. Didn't know about the masculine form being used for boats in France. Being English I can only think of sailing boats as female as they need so much love, care and attention.

Hi The 2500 is a great boat and the step up will be fantastic roll on July The masculine feminine thing, I’m from Wales and like French we have masculine and feminine nouns. Boats are feminine maybe because like a female they are a vessel Regards Tarn

Hello to all. We’re excited to join the Jeanneau group. We received our Yacht 51, hull 43, in December a year ago, but just found this forum. We’re planning our summer cruising in the US in Narragansett Bay, RI this year.

Hi Scott, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the boat. You have many fun adventures ahead, and we all look forward to hearing about them.
You will find many posts of interest to you by browsing through previous threads. Most topics are timeless, and remember there are many systems that are common to several boat models, so don’t restrict your browsing to posts on your specific model.
Many helpful people here, and a great place to hang out

Purchased NC 895 in November of 2018. We were thrilled with the design ,looks and functionality of the the layout initially. Yes you get a lot of boat for the money versus a Cutwater that we looked at. That’s the plus. The negatives which have been disappointing is the lack of quality in the build of the NC. Most frustrating which required multiple trips to the dealer were leaks in the main berth. The dealer was cooperative but losing the new boat weeks on end cut into our season. They discovered multiple leaks , even more than we had seen. This was all just carelessness at the manufacturing. There were othe quality issues as well. Now that we finally have it back in the water there are the good and questionable features of the NC 895. We have the generator with AC/heat. The control panel for the generator is in the most inconvenient place to switch on. You need to actually slide on your belly in the small berth to access . We had a remote off on switch installed by the helm. Thanks to the forum I had a real horn installed prior to delivery. Also was having fuel fill problem on port side and saw posts mentioning this. The posts were my confirmation and insistence with dealer that rectified the problem. Get used to having to remove rear cushions and sliding seat forward to trim up engines completely. Our boat is on a lift half the year where that does not matter until you try to flush out engines.Acess to starboard flush out is difficult if you do not move seat forward. The NC is a head turner other boaters always ask us about it. A shame that the people building them are not craftsmen or focused on quality. The boat is now on its way to Capecod for the summer from its winter home in Florida. We shall now see how it handles the rough water of buzzards bay and Nantucket sound.

Our sailing area is the German North Sea coast many Greetings Yak You are very welcome, I have been into to Borkum a couple of times and across the mouth of the Jade etc to Kiel, can be atmospheric but challenging. The lift keel should be useful in all those narrow drying gut-ways. Look forward top hearing more about your adventures with your new boat

But the Wadden Sea is a beautiful and sheltered area for that. Yak

Hi all,
Just signed up to the forum. My wife and I sail a SO449 ‘Cara’. We left our former home port of Portsmouth two years ago and have been sailing the Canaries since arriving here in December 2017.
We are about to start equipping the boat to be more self sufficient with more solar panels, a stern gantry and probably a wind generator.
Our boat was first launched April 17 although she was built in 2015.
Having not met a single other 449 owner anywhere on our travels we’d be interested to hear how others like the boat!

Hi Captaincara, Welcome to the forum. We do seem to be scattered around the world, but when you add up all those on the forum you will be able to talk to many of them here. It’s a friendly place to hang out and share your experiences with other like minded sailors.
Spend some quality time browsing through old posts on many topics, so many of them are timeless, and remember that many systems are similar on different models.
We all look forward to hearing from you both about your adventures and experiences.

Hello, I recently joined this forum to look for information on the Sun Odyssey 35. I finally bought one in USA (lake Champlain) and took it to Canada, where I live. Second hand, 2003, shoal draft, in quite good shape except a part of the deck with humidity, will have it repaired.
The boat is currently in Boulet-Lemelin shipyard (Quebec city) for some repairs. She will be based in Lévis marina, Parc Nautique de Levy, just facing Québec city. Our plan is to navigate down the St-Lawrence river to the Atlantic. Very happy to join this forum :-)

Hi djom, Welcome to the forum. You will find many like minded sailors here, it is a friendly place to hang out and share your experiences with your sailing.
Congratulations on your new purchase. Quebec City is a lovely place to be based, and I am envious of that St Lawrence Seaway. I have driven along parts of it on the way from Ontario, through Quebec and on to the Maritime provinces. Wished I had a boat there. How far can you go upstream?
You will find lots of interesting and informative information on the various boards here. Most are timeless, and many apply to many different models where the same systems are used, so spend a few quality evening hours, reading on all the topics which interest you.
We all look forward to hearing about your experiences.
