You should have a cut-off switch somewhere on your boat. It could be a contact breaker with a press button test that instantly shuts it down. If you don't have these in the circuit then you would be in big trouble if the press button sticks on. That happened to me this year so it's two new press switches at a cost of £72 each.
A sticking switch was also reported as the source of a very bad accident in the Caribbean a few years ago involving a wife putting hubby up the mast. Not a pleasant outcome by all accounts.
My cut-offs are in the aft cabin next to the battery switches. Not the best place to get to in an emergency. I always give new crew a very thorough briefing on where these cut-offs are and the use of electrical winches in general. The dangers of getting hair, fingers or anything else caught in them are not to be underestimated.

Finally got it figured out. There is 80 Amp breaker that's disconnects winch from the electric system. Thats the only way to turn that backlight off.

That raises an interesting point (Im not that clued up on electrics ). I usually just leave my breaker in the on position as kept forgetting to switch on before going for'd but as the windlass in a exposed position at the bow it probably good practice to only switch on when you are about to use it. Plus make sure the brake/clutch not salted up and anchor free to run without power.
