I believe the windlass supplied on my new Jeanneau Yachts 51 is a Lewmar and looking at the pictures it seems to be a V series, but does anyone know the 12 mm gypsy wheel calibration is it Din or ISO, I have asked Jeanneau but they are slow to respond and I need to order the chain soon.

One further point.......I am under the impression that both standards are very similar in dimensions and only the 10 mm chain size differs sufficiently to cause jamming with the wrong gypsy. However to eliminate any problems I want to use the exact chain recommended for the gypsy. Lewmar offer a parts list showing ever gypsy wheel and the recommended chain size and grade, I just need to know which one is on the 51!

This might be a question better addressed to Lewmar than Jeanneau. Are there any markings on the gypsy? Maybe bust out a caliper and measure a link in your chain? That way you'll know exactly what you have. The specs are here. David

DIN 766 and ISO4565 are the same for 12mm, so it should not matter

I haven’t received a reply from Jeanneau yet, however, that’s not unusual!
I did view the Lewmar web site and regardless of windlass model it seems all the 12 mm gypsies take ISO 4565 calibrated chain. And to answer one question, the Jeannea Yachts 51 spécifiés that the windlass is designed for 12 mm chain.

Thank you everyone for the input, it seems from all the research 12 mm calibrated is ISO not DIN.
