Has anyone converted the aft cabin on a SO45DS from a twin to a single cabin?

2010 50 DS
On DUET, the boat was incorrectly configured as a two cabins aft, but was ordered as a a one. The conversion was done in Annapolis. Not an easy proposition, as many of the parts needed for a one cabin had to come from Jeanneau (France). Maybe I can give you some guidance.

Any help or advice you can give would be gratefully appreciated. I keep my boat in Portugal and we have some good cabinet makers that would be up to the task.

Duet hi, the boat you had to have converted was it a 45DS? If so do you have any photos of the conversion and maybe a list of the parts that Jeanneau sent to do the job or failing all of that who would I contact at Jeanneau to assist me in this conversion?

As stated, my boat is a 50 DS. They are very similar, the biggest difference is the size of the forward cabin. I do have some pictures, but for a list of parts (assuming you want to have the finished product identical to a initial 32 cabin layout), you should contact Jeanneau directly. It is a big alteration in that the head is also altered with the entrance on the port side to the aft cabin being eliminated. Probably not necessary to do however. There will be new night tables on each side of a new queen bed, new floor piece connecting the two former cabins at the foot of the bed and new horizontal woodwork for the trim over the engine doors. The panel separating the two cabins to make one is easily removed. Good luck.

DUET thanks again for the info. Yes I know the layout but I would only convert the bed not the shower. I understand it’s a big job and probably very expensive. I want it to look like an original bed and probably good if I could get the correct bits from Jeanneau. Do you happen to have the contact details of maybe the best person to contact? regards 3buoys

The queen bed has a curved foot board, the necessary panels under the mattress with small movable panels thereon to access the tanks, a solid trim board above the engine access, a floorboard at the bottom of the engine access to make one piece at the foot of the bed, and builtin in night tables. There also will be cushions to fill in the space adjacent to the bed. the cabintry for the night tables will be the most expensive part and the curved foot board. My boat was converted in Annapolis, MD where the boat was purchased. My only contact was with Paul Fenn who is the North American President. Their cost, including redoing the head with a new shower replacing the short hallway, removing one door from the head and eliminating the passageway, was estimated at $28000. Your project should be obviously lower. I, with my own effort, reversed the door in the head to open into the aft cabin. I hope this is helpful.

Hi Paul, My 2 cabin 45DS is moored in Ferragudo at the moment. You could come aboard next time you are out if you want to check anything. We looked at doing the conversion before we bought Infine and decided it was too big a job, but the main aspect was eliminating the Port door and replacing that with the shower. If you don´t plan to do that I would think it is more straightforward.

Duet, I am really interested in how you managed to change the aft heads door to open outwards. That would please my wife more than you can believe!

Hi Duet, Did you ever find the photos of your converting the heads door in the aft cabin? Cheers, Rory
