Hello again
Just wondering what forum members think about the need for trim tabs on this boat. My guess is that they aren't necessary but happy to be corrected!

Hi kestrel,
I had a 695 (the full size
Salon version). I never installed tabs as I didn’t feel there was a need. I had the 200 hp Yamaha so it was easy with that engine to get on plane or hold on plane even with a load of people in back. I would occasionally ask someone to move to level the load while cruising. And occasionally I felt tabs would have been useful in a crosswind to keep the boat level. But i never missed what I didn’t have. My new boat is an 895. It comes standard with trim tabs and I’m glad it has them. The 895 is twice as heavy and I have the 300hp Yamaha. So the tabs are particularly beneficial due to the size and weight of the boat and engine. What I really like about them is the ability to easily stay on plane at sub 20 mph speeds. My advice would be that if you like the boat handling and performance without tabs then great stay with the boat as is. But if you occasionally struggle to get or stay on plane or travel with a bunch of people in the back or travel in rough water where tabs would assist or if you would just like to on occasion travel slower while on plane then go for the tabs. I would expect you to appreciate having them
