Hi everyone, Lately i have started to notice a loud and extremely annoying creeking and squeeking sounds from the aft cabin while underway. I believe it is from the bulkhead, and am pretty certain it is from two pieces squeezing again each other while under pressure.
Has anyone experience this and can guide me to finding the source?
2009 SO 30i.
Thanks! Guy

We have a SO 33i, so not strictly similar.
We have a couple of 'joins' of bulkheads/walls that have come unglued at the side of the companionway, but so far I have not heard any noises.
Jeanneau don't want to be involved so we'll have to get a fibreglass repair man to look at it during the winter lay up. Not wholly happy.
We have had a loud creaking noise as crew walked along the deck, as though the GRP was moving or flexing in an undesirable way. Turned out it was the ceiling panel, screwed and glued to the underside of the deck that had too little sealant. This was rectified by Jeanneau very easily.

Similar in my SO36i. Can be very frustrating when at a rolly anchorage. The cause in my case is the dividing panels in the rear cabins moving against the cross pieces. I was able to duplicate the creeks by pushing and pulling the divider panel between the rear cabins. The panel is slotted into place and is not fixed at every junction. I fixed one the worst of the creeks by glueing the offending join, but I wonder about glueing all the joins, maybe there should be some flexibility? An alternative may be to put some teflon or nylon tape between the joins so that they can move and not squeek/creek?

Hi and thanks for the reply!
It seems as if the noise is coming from directly beneath the deck near the companion way.
While standing in the aft cabin I can hear it coming from the ceiling and the bulkhead which deprecated between the cabin and the engine.
So far I wasn’t able to locate the source of it.
Where do you suggest adding glue?
It really sound as if someone near the campanion way isn’t tight.
Thanks!!

Hi,
I have a SO30i (2013) and on my boat there are two locations which make strange "noises" while sailing with some swell.
1st: aft side of salon tables floor plate scratches towards the forwards side of the floor plate right after it. just put some sleaze/felt between them
2nd: the edge of the engine box (back/starboard side) in aft cabin scratches against the aft berth substraction and this is just at one small area which you can easily access from the aft cabin temporarily I just put in a small piece of plastic from a yoghurt can (10*10mm) and ... silence !
Maybe this helps a bit :-)
Regards Torsten

Thanks to your thread it took the chance for a "final" solution on the similar issue I have. I now removed the temporary solutions and took some adhesive felt and put it to the locations I pointed to in my last post.
Now I have also some pictures available:

I also have this same issue.
Not a normal creak from the boat but a very loud one and I can physically feel the main bulk head moving against the engine bay wall. Gonna get the bulkheads checked over winter and see what can be done. Might end up reverting to felt option but do people have any other solutions?
Is it worth contacting Jeanneau about it for a 2011 33i?

Considering the issues that some other production boats have had with bulkhead failures - and manufacturers ignoring for too long - I think the more owners who alert Jeanneau to their problems the better. And if a common point of failure is identified with a recommended fix then all the better for current and future owners.
Thinking of the problems that Parlay Revival have had with their Lagoon 450 bulkheads… not saying these reports are anywhere near the same but nonetheless still worth reporting and pooling the knowledge of the problem and best solution?
