My Merry Fisher 655 is moored on a swinging mooring on Keyhaven river in the sometimes sunny south of England.
Part of the mandatory requirement for having a boat on the river is to have suitable insurance. The river is run by the local council.
My boat has been hit by the ferry and was amicably repaired a year or so ago. However although I have to have insurance it is not a requirement to have any insurance cover if you trail your boat to our slipway and pay a launching fee.
Judging by some of the antics we see during launching I suspect some of the rib owners with their hundreds of horse power are less than competent.
Is this the norm or has anyone to your knowledge been refused a launch on the basis of not being able to show insurance documentation at your local slipway?
