I have an 01 SO37. The rubber/plastic hatch hold open devices are remarkably weak, and a poor design IMHO. Does anyone have recommendations for adding a more robust brace to hold open the hatches? Also, and installation advice/warnings/pictures would be great; there does not seem to be a lot of options as to how to mount an after-market brace.
Thanks in advance!

yes very poorly made. They bend easily and therefore dont stay in place. Ive glued a thin piece of wood to the plastic but not a good fix. im looking for a better replacement. perhaps a spring that collapses and solidifies like what holds the refrig lid open?l

You might try the small gas arms that are sold at West Marine in US or on line.

Why not keep it simple and use a piece of wood, piece of teak even better if you have a piece laying around.

We use an old plastic chocolate coated peanut bottle. The best part was emptying the contents so we could use it for a hatch support.
