I am looking at a nearly new 695 but concerned that it’s maybe just a little small and the 795 would be the better option but to achieve the larger boat I would have to sacrifice specification to make it affordable. Does anyone have experience of both boats? I am in the UK and will use mostly for cruising and weekends on board with my wife and at most 1 other person staying onboard only on the odd occasion and up to 6 of us using to daytime cruise but mostly 2-4 at a time.

Hi Jackfrost, that’s a great question. Capt’n Lynn and me met on the water passing in curiosity seeing a boat that looked like our own, but his was a 695 and mine a 795. Btw, we are great friends now and have conversations all the time regarding equipment, and comparison between the 695, 795, and 895. He has since then sold his 695 and will take delivery of his 895 very soon, but he can probably give you a better perspective on how the 695 would work for how you plan to use the boat. I’m a bit bias to the 795 and wouldn’t want it any smaller, plus the extra 6” on the beam width is very nice. From what you have described how you will use the boat and number of people you will have on your boat, I would recommend the 795, even if you have to sacrifice options. Those can always be added latter! The one thing I would not sacrifice though is the 200 hp engine.
Hope this helps,
Cheers, Ron

Hi Jackfrost
I see that Capt Ron has just provided input. As Ron stated I had a 695 with an 895 ready shortly. Either boat is a good choice. My choise For the 695 was due Partially to cost and partially due to the fact that I wanted a max 8’ 6” beam for trailering. And the 795 May not have Been Manageable in my driveway. Our 695 was great for 2 or 3 couples for a day cruise. And my wife and I spent many overnights and even week trips. But for overnights it is a bit small. That said, for Overnights the 795 sleeping area didn’t feel any larger than the 795. The biggest benefit I see with the 795 is the wider beam. It provides just a little more width in the salon and can comfortably sit 4 people at the table. The 695 width for seating at the table is too tight for 4 adults.

Oops. I accidentally hit the send button. Correction. I meant to say above that the sleeping area on the 795 didn’t feel any larger than the sleeping area on the 695. Bottom line is either boat Is great. If you are going to spend eztended time with more than 2 people I’d recommend the 795 over The 695. And as Cap’n Ron said, are sure you go with the 200 HP motor. Actually, if I was Buying a 795, I’d go with the Yamaha f225.

Jackfrost,
It dawned on me that there is another difference worth mentioning relative to 695 vs 795. The 795 being a longer boat has sufficient length to have a bulkhead which separates the sleeping berth from the seating area. The 695 does not have this. We actually liked the "open concept" of the 695, at least for 2 people. My wife felt the sleeping area of the 795 was a bit claustrophobic with the bulkhead. That said, there are times the separation from the seating area that the bulkhead provides would be welcomed. So this is purely a personal choice and I wouldn't be surprised if most people preferred the bulkhead.
