Hi,
I'm looking to buy a DS43 that has a loose keel, so it needs to be removed and fixed. Its likely the bolts will need replacing, so my question is, are the keel bolts threaded into the keel or cast into the keel?
If they are cast is there anyway of replacing them?
Cheers Mike

I have a 2003 DS43 and my keel bolts are threaded and could be replaced. I hit a log about five years ago and had the keel dropped about six inches for inspection and re-caulking and sealing; and then it was raised back into the hull by tightening the threaded keel bolts. No problems since and bolts remain tight and no leaks along the seam below the water line or in the bilges.

There is a very informative and current article on our Facebook group by Danielle Breteau that includes video and photos of removing and repairing a 43DS keel. www.facebook.com/groups/jeanneauowners/make sure you click the "more comments" option to see all

Developed a slow leak at the end of this season. Need to figure out socket and extension sizes to get on these nuts. Gotta get after the sunk compression post too. WTH? my 1979 S2 didn't have all these problems.... waiting for fb group to see video.

anybody know the socket size needed for tightening the keel bolts? I measure the nut to be about 2 1/4". I hope this project goes good, I put it off last year, by end of season I was getting about 1/2 gallon of water an hour seepage into bilge on rough water sail trips.
Boat is now on the hard an some load on the keel.
Also, anyone know if the hull is easily damaged by a moving keel? seems to be a very weak link.

FYI, on my 2003 $#DS the keel bolt nuts are 2 1/4" socket. just dropping this here. I need a bigger breaker bar. LOL
