Today we fitted 4 new house batteries to our 2008 45DS . I know some will say we should have changed from sealed lead acid but we couldn't justify the cost. These new batteries are 4 x 142aH, an upgrade from the 110aH we had. They just fit with no changes to the woodwork or connections. I think we had 2/3mm in height to spare!!! Solar panel next. Ian

Ian Good capacity. Where did you get them? There or UK? Should have done the solar first though - we are still UK but at 100% before lunch most days even so. You should have usable solar power for at least 15 hours a day over there before you even touch your stored power???

Dave,
Had to get the batteries. We tried them over a weekend and ended up running the engine twice in one day!!!
With the new batteries we really have good capacity but still need to run the engine for about 30 mins a day to get hot water for showers. Even in this heat a warm shower is nice at the end of the day.
We are planning to add solar this year but with all our boat issues we really just want to go sailing now.
Speak soon, Ian
