Help with installing a Raymarine S1G linear autopilot on a Sun Odyssey 36.2 1998.
Since the unit does not come with a tiller arm, I have not had any luck finding the appropriate tiller arm to fit the rudder post. The post is 50 mm with a bolt through arrangement. The area of post available is about 2 1/2 inches long.
However, most tiller arms are straight (no bends). After installing the tiller arm to the rudder post, my attaching the autopilot to it would have to go through a fiber glass support that is on both sides of the rudder post. Cutting through this fiber glass may be the only way to attach the autopilot to the tiller arm.
Questions: 1. Anyone have experience installing an autopilot? 2. Anyone know what tiller arm for this 36.2 is recommended 3. Does Jeanneau make one available for sale? 4. Does the autopilot get connected to a new tiller arm that replaces the existing tiller arm (two arms connected to the same section of rudder post??)

hey captain...i have a 1999 36.2 and i installed a s1g autopilot...you sure you wanna get into this....jeanneau installed autopilots at the factory on my boat but other than a rudimentry drawing i was never able to find one in 2004...as far as i could find there is no tiller arm manufactured...with the help of a buddy at westlock steering mfg and a friend with a metal fabrication shop i designed a new tiller arm...or i should say an addition to the existing arm...a mounting bracket for the linear drive and a backplate to distribute the load...added new rudder stops as the linear drives throw is greater than the stearing system on my boat...i have photos of the parts and would be happy to be of any assistance if you decide to move foward...shoot me an e mail...737flyboy@gmail.com...ps i'm in chicago
