I have bought this year a SO 42DS. I found some problems with the water system. I can’t empty my 2 tanks, when the water level in the 2 tanks is between ½ and ¼ the pump begins to take air in the system (you can see it in the filter) and stops with pumping water and stays on running without water! So from the 350 l (94 gal) I have on board I can only use about 250l (70 gal)! I checked the tanks to see that the where not empty, because of wrong indicators -> indication of levels is correct. I think that the problem comes from the water hose fast connection system. The hoses are not fixed with clip bindings. Has anyone seen the same problems??? I asked the question to my dealer but had not yet an answer. Thanks Marc

I am doubtful if it is the push fit hose connections. I have 2 tanks on my 34.2 and quite a few of these connections which have not given problem. It is possible that the "dip-stick" type of water take off may be too short so cannot reach the bottom of the tank. You may find it responds differently if you are heeled to when the boat is upright? The pump works by a pressure switch so will run as soon as it begins to suck air and then not turn off. Have you actually measured whether you can only extract 250L? The water level gauges will only ever be very approximate as many tanks are not uniform in section, so it may be that you are almost emptying the tank but the gauge is tending to be over optimistic

I have had my 42DS for about 3 months and have filled the tanks several times. I'm getting all the water. For sure it sounds like the pick up it too high off the bottom of the tank.

Hi, I know this. Maybe you open booth tanks simultaneously. On my Jeanneau I open only one tank. After it is empty, I close it and open the other one.

The only problem I've had with the water on my 42DS is the galley sink slowed down and I had to clean the filter on the nozzle faucet. I have emptied the tanks a couple of time. It takes a while to get the new tank engaged.
