I have to replace the axle bearings rudder of my Sun Fizz 1981 and wanted to know if someone in the forum has the technical documentation with the dimensions, tolerances and material to be used. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Hello Sunfizz81. I also have to replace the rudder bearing of my Sun Fizz 1984. Have you already replace yours? Have you found any documentation? Thanks in advance for your help!

This seems to be a problem that Sun Fizz owners are coming up against. Plaintive cries for advice don't seem to have elicited any responses. Did you manage to replace yours, and if so, where did you source the replacement bearings? How did the job go?

Might well be worth trying Jefa in Denmark, they have made replacement bearings for some of the older Jeanneau's so may be able to help. Please keep the group informed how you get on as indeed will be an issue for others too.

We repaired our waterlogged wooden rudder and replaced the bearings on our 1985 Sunfizz two years ago. If any Sunfizz owners would like to know about our procedure, we'd be happy to supply info and pictures. The Delrin bearings are easily made by a local machinist.

Assuming a sun fizz is similar to a sunshine then I did mine several years ago. Bought some debris off eBay and local machinist made them up.
The advice given at the time is don’t make them too tight a fit as the Delrin will expand slightly and could jam. Don’t use nylon as that will expand even more.
Though I changed the bearings the real issue was the rudder had come loose from the shaft, again easy enough to fix by digging out the wood down to the tangs and the filling with iroko and epoxy.

I would be very grateful for any pictures and, in particular, dimensions. I have the original drawings of the rudder parts from Jeanneau, but sadly they don't have the dimensions. I've been in touch with Jefa who tell me that they don't have details or dimensions either. I've found someone who can make them up for me once I have the measurements. Mine are not going to survive the removal process.........

Hello,
I am currently looking at replacing my rudder bearings also and am wondering if anyone actually managed to find a supplier or dimensions of the bearings.
Cheers!
