Folks,
I've been working up passage plans for our trip this year and here is what I've come up with for morring costs for a 45ft:
€ 36 Viana do Castelo. € 22 Povoa de Varzim € 52 Marina Douro - Porto 50% - Trans Europe Marinas discount rate € 35 Figueira da Foz € 35 Peniche € 44 Oeiras CA -20% € 69 Portimao € 55 Albufeira CA -15% € 68 Lagos CA -?? € 48 Ayamonte € 42 Mazagon € 47 Chipiona € 45 Puerto Sherry CA -20% € 42 Barbate
CA - Cruising Association discount.
These are my best estimates before I have arrived at the port and I have tried to include VAT/IVA Additional information welcome.

That makes Greece look like such a good cruising area.

Interesting. We have decided to spend another season on the French Atlantic with maybe a return trip across to northern Spain in August as we enjoyed the Atlantic so much last season and as we are having an annual contract will be able to get the free 2 nights deal in over 114 marina's in France and Northern Spain (lots more have been added recently) - I know that doesn't help you, but others may find of interest. Our annual berth will only be just over 2000 euro and we plan to use our passeport a lot. www.passeportescales.com/en/There are some great deals to be had in the Vilaine too, a couple of yards do dry berthing with up to 10 lifts and store per year - that saves haul costs and if the boat is cruising most of the season works well for many How come you can get the Trans Europe discount?

Malcolm, we have an annual contract at Marina Davila Sport, Vigo which is part of the Trans Europe Marinas scheme. I think this is new this year. Our contract runs until around the 20th June.
What's the cost of joining the passporte group?
Hoppy, what about some Greek pricing? I'd like to know what to expect.

That's what I like about it - totally free if you have an annual contract with one of the partner marina's

The prices from Ian looksprety good! I will say about 2 to 5 times cheaper compared to French, Spanish and Balearics Mediterraneans marinas ... Greece is generally free - from time to time some local authority ask random boats for 10eur per day

Hoppy, what about some Greek pricing? I'd like to know what to expect. In Gouvia marina in Corfu where I am based, the daily rate for 12.5m is €48 + 23% vat, but in Greece you rarely stay in marinas. I'd estimate that over the years I've only paid a fee at 50% of the town quays I've stayed at. A few times the only fee I've paid has been to the Port Police and that has been a ridiculous amount like €2.33 or something. Sometimes you might pay €15, but rarely much more. Some towns are a little more organised and have marina like water & power points which require a card which you pay a little for and sometimes you can get water free. A couple of bays I visited in the Aegean had mooring buoys laid out for visitors, usually by the local taverna(s). When I've picked them up, I've gone to the taverna for dinner and never paid for the mooring. Most importantly, there are so many places to anchor, there is no need to go to a town quay or a marina if you don't want to.

Ohh yeah... There are some town quays where people leave their yachts for the winter. It costs them nothing more than perhaps a guardinage fee to some local resident. This practice however annoys me as those same boats tend to hog the quay for much of the sailing season as well which means people who are onboard their yachts wanting to tie up and spend money in tavernas and shops, can't But that level of cheapness can backfire on you
