My water heater is leaking into the bilge when motoring. It's a Quick BX 40l heater. I'd like to replace the valve but I don't see any specs on it. Any suggestions on where to source one of these, preferably in the US? Thanks in advance. David P.S. Apologies, I know this has come up on this board but I can't find the pertinent information in the archives.

Aaaaand I found it on the Quick USA web site. I'll leave this thread up here in case someone else comes along looking for the same information. P.S. I lucked into a 30% off, black friday sale going on on the Quick site. So if anyone out there is holding off on buying overpriced Italian boat bits then now might be a good time to do it .

You should contact Monica Wieckowski at quick USA mwieckowski@quickusa.com

It can be replaced with a safety valve of central heating that opens at 3 bar.

It can be replaced with a safety valve of central heating that opens at 3 bar. FYI the spec says 6 bar.

Any suggestions on where to source one of these, preferably in the US? I am not sure it is the pressure relief valve you want to replace. Remember it is there for a purpose. As you run the engine the water will get hotter and hotter and hotter. There is nothing to tell the engine to stop heating the water so pressure will build up. We had the same issue and we just turn our water pressure switch off so no water comes into the water heater. That solved the issue.

Chuck, that's a good point. It does seem like a design flaw if the water heater can't contain the pressure associated with normal motoring. After all the engine can only get so hot. And if you forget to turn off the water pressure than you dump hot water into the bilge. Seems like a problematic design. I've never had a boat that does this. At the very least I'm willing to try a new valve on the off chance that the one that I have is faulty. If it continues to dump water when hot then I'll accept it and move on.
I'll report back to the board when I have the result.
