Hi Just back from a trip to the south coast of Ireland where I tested the following washboard strorage. imgur.com/a/mnBQN#0It worked very well and the washboard stayed in place even is some bumpy conditions. Regards Noel

Hi Ian,
Yes they were made from some timber left over from another project. It was only a matter of routing out a slot to fit the width of the washboard.

Very neat solution Noel. I keep mine in the aft cabin just behind the engine box, wedged between the wall and the bunk cushion and held in place with a bit of shock cord. It is very secure but not so easy to get to. Congrats. Rob

I had this exact solution on my previous boat but was under the impression that it was factory fitted and did not realise that I can do it myself

Noel
That is very neat. For the fixing, did you need to screw/bolt through to the heads compartment?

Hi Ian,
Yes the screws for the side pieces are fixed from the heads, the base is fixed directly to the floorboard.
For the side pieces I used stainless self tapping pan heads with washers, countersunk heads for the base. I sealed the holes with a little varnish.
For the sides pieces I used the longest screws I could fit to get the strongest fixing.

So now I need to buy a router!!! Hi Ian, If you ever do any woodwork, you always needed to buy a router. All that has changed is that now you know you need to buy a router. rene460

On the 33i fits perfectly behind the toilet in the heads.... 33i I fitted a piece of wood with a slot in it (made with a router) on the floor at the side of the toilet, held with shock cord at the top. The wall behind the toilet in our boat has hooks for hats and towels.

On our SO37 we made a same kind of solution but in the front cabin on the bulkhead. The screws are hidden behind the cushions on the other side af the bulkhead.
