The fuel gauge on our 379 just stopped working. At first it showed no fuel, now the display has a round crossed out symbol layed over a fuel pictogram. I just filled up. Any idea what to check? All other guages and instruments are fine. I found nothing in the owners papers.

Hi Optimystic
My 2012 SO379 fuel gauge stopped working early last season .... the selling dealer had the electronics guys check it out. The fuel sender was found to be working OK therefore elimination says the fault must be within the Fuel gauge / Electrical panel.
This is no small job.... apparently as the total panel has to be changed, think this panel type has been the cause of various other problems in the past any other members can shed light on this matter would appreciate feedback?
To date I am running with no fuel gauge and I am currently happy to do that .... I now understand this Jeanneau fuel gauge system to be totally unreliable and I personally would never go to sea reliant on the reading, gauge working again or not.
I have done my own extensive fuel top up / consumption tests and now calculate my own data from actual engine hours run. Knowing I can rely on my own figures as I also build in a safety margin to cover running in various sea conditions, nothing more embarrassing & dangerous if you run out of fuel at sea.
Optimystic , Sorry I cannot give you a solution but maybe we will get some feed back from our fellow forum members that we both could benefit from.

Surely if this is a known fault Jeanneau should be replacing/repairing the gauge free of charge. I am about to take delivery of a new 379 and have been told by the broker that Jeanneau offer an excellent after sales service to keep customers happy. I hope this is true.

Hi Emerald Moon
Just to make it clear ... I have had no after sales issues with my supporting Jeanneau dealer on the East Coast in fact I cannot praise them highly enough and I can assure you my recommendation does not come without justification, it was my decision at the time to run with the fuel gauge not working.
However I understand that I still have the option to get the panel changed early this season to hopefully fix the Jeanneau fuel gauge issue at no cost to myself , although through experience it is now my personal opinion that I would not trust this fuel gauge system ever again.
Don't let this small issue put you off ... the SO379 is a fantastic yacht and for sure whatever you buy you have after issues sales its how they are handled and sorted by your dealer / manufacturer that matters. I have worked within one of the best known brands in the world always in aftersales for 40+ years and the old saying is .... Sales sell the first & After Sales sell the second ... I would certainly by another one.

Hi Jim
That's good to hear, very reassuring. My 379 has been with the brokers for commissioning for six weeks now so I'm really hoping we get her for Easter.

For now I will use a manual log book and calculate fuel. After thinking through the past refuelings the gauge really wasn't ever accurate enough to ward off a low fuel situation. We never run low so this should be fine for now and likely more accurate then the gauge. Has anyone looked into using the vessel gauge systems in the simrad chart plotter? There is a dashboard screen that has fuel, voltage, temps etc that would be very useful when running.

Hi Optimystic
Think you need an engine interface module to utilise the Simrad MFS display via Simnet ... As I understand it Volvo engine installations have this interface but 3YM30 Yanmar engines Do Not.
