Does anyone know if the antifouling will be damaged in case the boat is out of the water for 2 weeks ?
e.g. in the boat is on the hard for two weeks does it needs a new anti fouling or it is OK to bring her back in the water without new antifouling ?

Greece is full of boats that winter on the hard and only get a new coat if needed.
I have heard that if you do the anti-fouling and it's hot, then you want to get the boat in the water fairly quickly.

It depends entirely on the antifouling paint you used. Some say you need to recoat or at least roughen the surface. Others are fine with being on the hard. You should check the label on a can of the same type of paint or visit the manufacturer's web site.

Out of the water durability of bottom paint is also a function of the amount of strong, direct sunlight- the less the better. In the pacific northwest this is not usually a problem, however constant, location specific leaching of rainwater on ablative paint over one week can be degrading.

Hi Vasko, I am from Israel (SO 40DS) same weather like Greece. Professionals would recommend short term of applied antifouling paint out of the water. You better-off apply paint up to 3 days before boat is back to the water. Dry paint will loose it's pill off ability and you may get a non active outside layer. My recommendation is based on long years sailing in my region. Good luck Alex

Vasko,
How about going to CooperCoat? I just called them and it would be £670 for the product plus about the same for preparing the hull and then the same again for application - £2000 and then you're done for 10 years. If you do it yourself its just the £670. Ia

I had a Bavaria 34 with coppercoat in the Solent/UK and it were great during the 5 years that I owned it no need for new coating at all just jetwash once per year , but it was not cheap - I remember something about £4000 total cost
I can vote for it for a boat in UK assuming it is done as it should, I'm not so sure how the coppercoat is done is Spain for example ... I'm seriously doubtful to be honest... as I have a friend how put coppercoat on his boat in Nidri\Greece and the result was boat full of weeds in the first month!
When I move to France next year and I need new coating I will investigate the options in France...

My last UK based boat I had stripped to the Gell coat and sealed with VC Tar, followed by VC 17. A copper based anti-foul. She was 30 foot it cost £1500. On lift out all she required was a good pressure wash before applying another coat of VC 17. This we did every other year and a 2.5lt can was sufficient. It took no longer than a couple of hours with a small foam roller. The smooth copper finish certainly improved performance. Last year in Greece (different boat) I applied one coat of middle priced, conventional anti-foul two weeks before launch. I was told I should have applied two coats. On lift out at the end of October the hull was exceptionally clean except for the odd barnacle here and there. I was pretty pleased with my work. This year however I have to pay the yard to do the job and I know it will be done 24-48 hours before launch and they will give her two coats as standard. It will be interesting to see what difference there is come October. When boat budget will allow I will however certainly look at having her redone in the VC 17. Attachment Deleted

Is your antifoul hard or self-eroding? If it's self-eroding be sure to tell the yard not to pressure wash the hull when she comes out. Most yards do this and it will strip most of your self-eroding antifoul off.
