Caution lifting out the SO 379 (Lift Keel Version); may also apply to fixed keels. Photo shows the strop correctly positioned on the hull lift point. However on a recent lift out the operator lined up the strop with the marks, then as lift commenced the strop caught on the trailing edge of the keel, tearing a strip off the strop! You could show this photo to the Travel Lift operator, recommending that the strop is initially raised to the hull say 0.5m aft of the hull mark, then slid forward over the end of the keel stub to the marked lift points. Hi Evenstar, Thanks for the heads up - we have a full draft so379 and our aft strap hoist location is in the middle of the boarding gate, which just misses the aft end of the keel bulb and is just short of the sail drive.

I adjusted the lift out location after installing a flexofold which added length to the sail drive unit. I put the strap just aft of the port light windows for the aft staterooms and forward of the sun odesey lettering. No chance for damage if lifted there.

Hello Optimystic,
The (aft) lift mark on Evenstar is at the (fwd) gate stanchion; so from your description, your lift point is 2.5m aft of the factory mark. Is this wise?

The lift operators were very specific about putting the strap aft of the prop. It would be far aft of the gate. With the full keel I think they were concerned about placing it between the bulb and the prop. I don't know enough about why the lift marks are where they are from a structural perspective. Perhaps forum members can have input. We were lifted by the company that does jeanneau commissioning for the dealer so I went with their opinion.
