Well we try to listen to our members and just had the following good suggestion from one of our regulars
So the rest is up to you guys - use as you want and we will see how it develops

Sounds like a good idea.
I think it would be good to also have an "off topic" section for stuff that is not directly related to Jeanneau.

Thanks Malcolm! I must admit it was a little in my own benefit to request this Board, but I believe we can gather some relative info for Jeanneau owners who are or are intending to to some extended cruising.
And hoppy, that's very true too what you say. But I think you should look at this as a "cruising only" board, so it can also be non-Jeanneau, as long it is about cruising and extended voyaging.
Happy New Year!

I'm on other sailing forums as well and sometimes I find that an artificial distinction is made between those who "cruise" and those who don't; with a stigma being attached to those who return to their home base more frequently. If this board were larger and with too many active posts to keep track of then a separate forum for long-distance cruising and/or those staying away for docks a long time might make sense (I do believe that other aspects of sailing and boat design become important to those who live off-the-grid for extended periods); but this forum is currently nice and compact and I don't think it is time to split off a new cruising forum.

I feel the same about "performance tips". Why is that a separate board? I have no affinity with that at all, but I do with (long distance) cruising. And there seem to be quite a few more members here with the same affinity. So, to bundle the cruising related info as much as possible, best to create a seperate board. You could also choose one board: boats. That makes things really compact.

The original board headings were simply set up as starter ideas.
Although I only cruise and never race I like my boat to sail as well as possible, so some of the "performance tips" can be really valuable even to cruisers.
There seems to be traffic on the new cruising board so will see how that develops . It is easy to merge boards / set up new ones etc but at the moment I think I will give it a few months to see how much activity there is
Feedback always appreciated

we are not racers and never intend to be. we are full time cruisers but got soulmates because she is a performance boat. that being said i check the performance board to see if i can glean an idea or two that makes sense for us and give us better performance as all know we are not very good sailors and all thoghts help.
one area that may be nice would be destinations. it is nice to share thoughts on various place on such things as ports, anchorages, repairs ect.
