Now since my relocation and therefor my .....' big on the hard modifications and H&T projects ' are over I can only share some small but still fairly useful ( I think) additions .
This new gadget has been lingering on in my mind for some years , but now it has become very accute with respect to the time we spend on our boat.
An overhood , yes , be it diy and very modest one .
And as with most of my improvements I always try to combine several worlds and/or use for my new toys.
Cooking fumes have always our concern through the years , opening a side window or hatch just doesn' t do the job , we were never able to find a suitable plug and play device that would fit our needs and also fit into the available space for it. Wrong shape , too big , and so on.
Last septembr it came to me after having dinner while on anchorage in one of the lovely bays of Gozo (Malta)
No wind and an outside temp of about 35°C we decided to have dinner inside and watch a movie at the same time. After noticing some cooking fumes gradually filling the interior (no wind to create a venturi effect) and while sitting at the table having dinner dripping sweet all over the place I saw the (small) light.
This is what I added yesterday , still needs approval of the lady of the manner who's not here at the time but I think she'll agree.
This the hood mode , as you can seen the air is being blown outside. On top of the ventilator there is a turning knob with 3 positions . Off , low speed , high speed
The black flexible arm was a leftover from car gps stand.
In all my upgrades I've always tried to make sure not drilling holes if not neccesairy. If the upgrade is not a succes , you'll be looking at the screw holes is it not.
Here are the schrewholes somewhat conceiled behind the ceiling, if I in a later stage decide to remove the vent no holes will be
Absolutely crucial that the shades still works of course.
This is the so beloved " get a nice breeze while enjoying dinner ( if and when we decide to have it inside) "
The vent can be turned by releasing the white knob a bit and than fastened again to keep the vent in position.
i
Just an other angle
Voila , an other job done .
As always Malcolm if you think it can be used in the H&T , no patent has been applied ?
Regards
