I was surprised to see that my two factory supplied refrigeration compressors for the fridge and freezer were not expect Danfoss ones, but units from a manufacturer called Huayi, model Cubigel GC30FDC.
I want to get the serial port adapter so that I can reset the units for optimal energy consumption, but have had absolutely no luck at all finding anyone selling these! I started with the manufacturer in Spain, they won't talk with mere mortals and gave me a list of distributors. I contacted 10 of those in Germany and of those who deigned to answer I had 2 tell me that they don't carry those compressors and the others said that they don't deal with end consumers. A search on Google didn't bring me any closer to finding a company that carries these adapters or could even get me pricing.
Does anyone here happen to know where I might get relief?
p.s. I thought that the adapter might just be a RS232 level-shifter, since they document the plug on the device but there seems to be more involved than that, since even when I wired a TTL level shifter I couldn't get a signal from the wires. The company does put out the software for free but it would seem I really need to use their little dongle.

Can't help on the technical question - but just wanted to say I love your new Icon

Thanks about the icon - I finally found a picture of Zanshin taken while underway. This was while sailing with a Catamaran called "Katzenellenbogen" southwards along the coats of Nevis.

dito on the icon... This year I got some great shots of Jessabbé sailing, which sadly are 300m on the bottom of the Ionian... Maybe next year I will get some keepers

Hi Zanshin, I am not sure if you have seen this but this technical advice discusses the port and describes it as RS232. That port has multiple functions which are outlined in this document. www.huayicompressor.es/pdf/huayi_compressor_GD30FDC.pdfI figure if you have access to the software and you can get a serial output from your computer (old computer or USB to serial adapter) it should work if connected to the right pins on the RJ connector. I am guessing the baud rate is set by the application. It sounds like a very configurable compressor system. Nothing like the old one I have in my yacht. Great looking boat by the way! Regards, Trevor

Trevor,
unfortunately it isn't a standard RS232 port, I've already tried hooking it up. It also isn't a TTL level serial port (3.3V or 5V rather than much higher standard UART voltages) so I'm not sure what comes out and the manufacturer won't tell me. Thus one really does need their dongle/adapter which outputs a serial signal.

Hi Arnt,
did you you consider asking Jeanneau to make the request for you?

Hi Zanshin,
Well that is disappointing. I can't imagine they make a fortune out of the RJ11 to DB9 converter so you would think they would be happy to share the format of the serial port freely. I looked on the Chinese site but has less information than the Spanish site.
i note the RJ11 to Serial port converter needs to be powered so I guess that points to some active circuitry.
Good luck with it. As Warren suggests maybe Jeanneau could seek the information for you.
Regards,
Trev

just a thought, maybe alibabas site might get to the manufacturers site, they seem very helpful on that site (standed colour hull or repainted!)
