My 1999 SO40 has a manual engine cut off. It is just a simple cable with a handle on the end - pull to stop. It does not work well as I have to carefully push it back into place after use or I have a heart attack the next time I try to start the engine and it is dead.
Also, it is located in the aft lazarette so it is not handy.
I have acquired a quite powerful solenoid that has a travel of about 2cm. Can I use something like this to automate the process or should I be wary of playing with it and just replace and maybe reposition the cable?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
jj

I was thinking about similar improvement myself too.. my cut off is inside port side locker and really not easy to get to ...
