I am trying to differentiate this boat from the Beneteau Oceanis 48. A few questions: 1. The helm seat is almost non-existent behind the wheel, any issues with that? 2. What did you do for lighting in the cockpit? 3. How does she sail in light winds?
ANything I should be thinking about? What you love most? Pet peeve? Thanks!

While I can't answer the 509 questions, I can say "Welcome" to the forum!

The helm seats on the 509 are great. Firstly you can sit on them without an issue, however we normally sit outboard as this is very comfortable while sailing or motoring. For light in the cockpit, I hang a 12v lantern from the Bimini. The light was purchased from west marine. I am not a fan of the table lamp. I expect it can gat broken and the light can't be moved around the cockpit as it is fixed. light wind sailing is excellent. We went with the 106 jib and the code zero. Even without the code zero we have achieved impressive speed. Check out the video of us sailing south. jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/2408/so509-ny-puerto-rico

Thanks all for your comments I enjoyed that video and have something to aspire to!. Helm seats are comfortable? They are the size of a bike seat. Glad to hear though, that takes away one of my concerns.

The helm seats taper as you move inboard. I have no issues with the seats. Lots of space behind the wheel. Comfortable to sail.
