I'm just about to start fitting a d4 eberspacher to a SO33i.
Has anybody seen where the factory/dealer installed unit is located and where the ducting run goes?

I have a SO32, so I am not sure how different the boats are. My unit is fitted behind the rear wall of the aft cabin (the area you will need to get to, to access the rudder/steering system). On my 32 there is a small shelf, which is removed to gain that access. The void between the stern and the wall is where the heater, exhaust and air intake is fitted. The shelf is then replaced. The fuel pump is fitted at the back of the cockpit locker in the same void but at the opposite side to the heater but nearer the fuel tank. The ducting runs down the starboard side of the boat, under the cooker and under the seating. I have one outlet in the rear cabin on the rear wall, one in the main cabin at the bottom of the sink cupboard and one in the front cabin. The rear cabin gets hot very quickly but the front cabin only warm. If you can get an outlet in the toilet, I would recommend it! Mine is on the wrong side of the boat. Sorry I do not have any photographs There is a great site if you have trouble with your Eberspasher: www.letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/Eberspacher_Intro_1.htmlHope this helps Regards Ken Lewis

In my SO32, the heater is on the port side in the stern behind the cabin bulkhead as well. The hot air duct goes through the stern cabin under a shelf next to the double berth, through the locker and under the shower sink and behind the toilet. All of the air duct in the stern cabin is insulated.
The first outlet is in the shower compartment which therefore can be heated very efficiently so you can dry wet gear as well. Then the air duct goes on to the forward cabin which has an outlet that is little used, and finally to the main cabin which has an open end. Heating the boat is efficient, and if you want a fast heat-up, just open the shower door for a few minutes.
By the way, if you think of a heater that matches your boat's interior volume, take the next one up in the range so you have ample capacity.
Although the 33i is a different boat, maybe you can use this as a general guideline.

We had the dealer install Webasto unit rather than order with the boat because we wanted insulated ducting. Unit is fitted rear port side - see attached photo. Ducting runs port side - with a tee at stern to provide heat to rear port cabin. We have it ducted to the heads, main cabin and forward cabin. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Thanks for the pics. That's pretty much how I was going to do it so good to know I'm going in the right direction. Is your exhaust skin fitting on the port side?

Hi bikerwookie, I am very interested in your implementation. I own a SO30i and want to install an Aeroheat D2 heater to my boat. Similar problem: what to put where. Did you made some pic you'd like to share ? Cheers hansi
