Hallo,
On my SO37 the grab handle on the steering pedestal has a stainless steel loop bracket. The bracket with the two screws was too weak. I have built a wooden reinforcement and replaced with the screw. If someone wants to have the details, please PM me. greetings
Klaus

No worries, he's asking about the stainless bow on the steering pedestal of his SO37 that is held with 2 screws and is too flimsy. He has made a wooden support as a replacement and if anyone is in need of it please send him a PM for further info.

Hi All, I've started the repair to sort out the loose grab handle which appears to be "standard fit" on 37's. The repair so far........... The problem: The grab handle just forward of the wheel is loose, but if you try and tighten the bolts up you WILL find they are siezed in the ally tubing. The solution: Shear off the 5mm allen key bolts by just trying to undo them. Once off you will then have to take 3 inch brace tubes (see attached pic) to your local machine shop for them to drill a 6mm hole ALL THE WAY THROUGH. You will then have to buy 2 x m6 x 100mm STAINLESS bolts (I got mine from ebay, and I have two spare if anyone requires them). Once I get the parts back from the machine shop I will take more pics of it going back together and update this thread. Hope this helps Ian

Hi All, Just an update. I got the tubes back from the machine shop this morning. As you can see, they have now drilled a 6mm hole all the way through. As soon as the new bolts arrive I will take pics of it all back back together. Best Regards Ian

Klaus I gave up on the old pedestal. Ours was very insecure and the shifter lever was loose on the tubing. Our SO37 Chumu now has a new Edson pedestal and shifter that looks nice and there's lots of room for wiring and instrumentation. www.flickr.com/photos/spartrek/4943629238

Hi Ann and Dennis,
Looks like you done a great job with the new pedistal and wheel. I also had a look at your worktop conversion! I'm very tempted to mine - what sort of job was it to do??? I also see you have leather seats / backs - is that also something you done, or is that standard?
Regards
Ian

The nut from inside the binnacle. All finished!!! Grab handle is now firmly fixed, and with the amount of grease I used it should be a few years before it all siezes and can't be tightened up anymore. I hope this helps Best Regards Ian
