we have a 2008 42DS sailboat. We do week long cruises in Long Island Sound. There are many gas/diesel docks available but we do not like to spend our time there - has anyone added additional diesel tanks to increase range?

We have a 49 with 3 water tanks. We converted the starboard aft water tank into a second fuel tank. It is the same type tank as the port aft fuel tank. We added a fuel tank switch so we can direct the flow to the engine. It has worked well. With a water maker we can make water, but we can't make fuel.

Did you get the Jeanneau kit or purchase just the tank? I am thinking of getting the system with the transfer pump for my 49DS.

see :additional tankage." I just completed this conversion. Basically, there are two vaules: a return and supply for each tank. The generator will continue to gets its supply from the original diesel tank so using the new tank (formerly water) first is preferable. Jeanneau does not have a kit although I believe it will be offered on the 53.

Paradox...did you ever make this conversion for more fuel? If so, what exactly did you do?
