Love my 42 DS. First one in West US. However, I had a "leak" when under power. Couldn't find it. Dealer couldn't find it. Finally found it! In order to get the engine exhaust past the huge aft stateroom the engine exhaust goes straight down into the port engine mount portion of the engine pan, through a 90 degree plastic angle and under the aft sole. At least 3 of 9 boats sold in San Diego (not all of which have been delivered) leak at this joint according to the dealer. If you have an impossible to find leak, let your dealer know that it might there. Dealer (H&S) quickly repaired it - they are great. Move to San Diego and buy your next Jeanneau from them.

I am (excitedly) awaiting delivery of a 42DS................and was grateful for your warning. How was the repair carried out and could it be prevented?? Anything else cropped up.................generally hear great things about the boat?
Cheers

According to the technician, the exhause hose which was connected to the plastic fitting had neither any sealer, nor were the hose clamps tight. As part of commissioning have them check that for you. He also said that the fitting used to be metal, but now is plastic. Metal would be better until it corrodes. Maybe that is why they swithed to plastic. A rather dumb design as the fitting is buried in the engine mount. C'est la guerre.

Hi Had my 42ds for six weeks now and can let you know that it is a really striking yacht. Some issues with the quality of the panels that hold the lights in forecabin however apart from that really impressed so far. Have had 9kts on a brisk reach but normally nearer 7.5kts.
