Hi, I am now the proud owner of a Merry Fisher 805. Being a careful owner I got a marine engineer to replace the volvo seal on the stern gland -this was done incorrectly and I nearly sank. Obviously he is now going to fix the seal but should I insist on anything else being done? Water came in and filled the stern lazerette and then into the main compartment and up to but not over the engine. Full service? New exhaust? Any suggestions would be very welcome.

DO you have surveyers/inspectors where you are at? if so, having another set of eyes look over the boat to see if any damage occured is probably the BEST intitial thing to do. Otherwise, you may be replacing things that do not need replacing, and not replace things that do! Your insurance company may have someone too.
